Jay-Z Opens Up About Therapy & Mental Health in the Black Community

At his recent appearance on the Van Jones Show, Jay-Z addressed the stigma surrounding mental illness and therapy. The rapper admitted that he attended therapy and found the experience to be extremely beneficial. Jay-Z also expressed that there is a need for mental health services in schools and that students should have access to therapy while in school. NAMI MC could not agree more about how important it is to address mental health in schools since kids spend so much of their time there. It is one of the reasons why NAMI MC chose to adopt the Sources of Strength suicide prevention programs and implement it in schools throughout the county.
